Safety

Safety on the job is paramount.  Local 659 contractors hold safety in the highest regard.  Local 659 contractors have weekly safety talks to talk about the latest safety practices.  At the end of the day, the most important thing to us is that you return home to your family the same way you showed up to work that day.

Unionize your workplace

Are you tired of being told that you are going to get a raise "soon" or that health insurance is "right around the corner?" Have you ever had to wait for your paycheck until the contractor gets paid? Have you worked for more than 40/hrs in a week for staight time?  Are you expected to work through breaks? Are your tired of using your own truck, power tools and sometimes material for your employers jobs?  Have you ever been asked to perform an unsafe act?

*IBEW Electricians are paid every week

*IBEW Electricians are paid for all hours worked

*IBEW Electricians only bring their hand tools to the job site. Contractors supply the trucks, power tools and all of the material you need to do your job properly.

*IBEW Electricians have full medical, dental (including orthodontia) and vision insurance provided to them by their employer.

*IBEW Contractors hold safety in the highest regard.

If you are working for a contractor who does not provide you with the benefits you see listed here or you would like to form a union in your workplace, contact Nick Carpenter (541) 227-9736 or email nick@ibew659.org.
